DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale: The List Of Top German Bank

DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale, more popularly known as DekaBank, is a large asset management bank that came to be from the 1999 merger of Deka, an investment company founded on 1956, and Deutsche Girozentrale, founded on 1918. From that merger in 1999, DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale since became the central asset manager of the Sparkassen, a term collectively given to German savings banks. Sparkassen (plural, Sparkasse for singular), which works as a commercial and decentralized bank, operates independently and mostly caters to clients of the particular area or region where it is located. Since savings banks are usually non-profit natured, its shareholders are mostly city, or cities within a given administrative district. Moreover, DekaBank is an institution incorporated under public law.

Because DekaBank, as mentioned earlier, is the central asset manager of Sparkassen, and because of the large number of German savings bank, DekaBank have proven to be one of the largest and busiest German banks to date; its headquarters in Frankurt and Berlin, and locations in Luxembourg and Switzerland. As of June 23, 2011, DekaBank’s shareholders include, DSGV ö. K with a total share of 50 percent which includes the Savings Bank Association Baden-Wurttemberg with a share of 7.71 percent, Rhineland Savings Banks and Giro Association with a share of 6.56 percent, Savings Banks Association Lower Saxony with share of 6.46 percent,
